Upgrading a System
If you already use an Aviom personal mixing system, it's easy to augment your system by upgrading Personal Mixers, adding more input sources, or switching to a Dante network.
Upgrading mixers
Replacing Your Personal Mixers with the A640, A360, or A320
Because the A640, A360, and A320 are compatible with all legacy Aviom personal mixing products, all you need to do to upgrade an A-16II Personal Mixer is disconnect the Cat-5 cable from your old personal mixer and connect it to your new A640, A360, or A320* Personal Mixer. You don't need to change anything on the input module, console card, or the A-Net Distributor. The A640, A360 and/or A320 mixers will get the same channels in the same order as before.
Note that the A640, A360, and A320 cannot be daisy chained, so if your existing system does not include an A-Net Distributor, you'll need to add one. The D400 and D800 are compatible with all Aviom Personal Mixers.
* The A320 requires that your system uses an A-Net Distributor; it cannot be used with an external DC power supply.
Adding the A640, A360, or A320 to an Existing System
To add A640, A360 or A320 Personal Mixers to your existing Aviom personal mixing system, simply connect your new mixers to any open ports on your A-Net Distributor.
You can also make a system larger to accommodate more than eight performers by adding another A-Net Distributor—D400, D800, or a legacy A-16D Pro. Each additional A-Net Distributor provides A-Net data and DC power for eight more users.
Adding more input sources
Integrating Channels 17-64
Adding input channels to an existing system is simple, even if you plan to use a mix of older A-16II Personal Mixers along with A640s, A360s and/or A320s.
Channels 1-16
In your expanded system, your existing 16-channel input module or console card will supply channels 1-16 to the network. If you plan to continue using any legacy A-16II Personal Mixers, the audio sources connected to this existing input module or console card will appear on these 16-channel mixers (network channels 17-64 are ignored). So be sure that all the input sources that the musicians using those A-16II mixers need are connected to this input module or console card.
In systems with more than 16 input sources, A320 Personal Mixers will utilize the first 16 mono or stereo sources, while A640s and/or A360s can use this default set of channels or can be assigned a custom set of sources for each musician. Custom channel maps for the A360 require using A360 Channel Manager. Creating a custom channel map for an A640 can be done right from the unit's Mixer Setup window.
Adding Channels from an Analog Console
You can connect up to four analog input modules, using the AN-16/i v.2 Input Module, to get up to 64 total channels to choose from in your personal mixing system. The digital A-Net Out on the AN-16/i v.2 gets connected to A-Net In on the next AN-16/i v.2 to cascade the input sources and create one unified A-Net stream. Read more...
Adding Channels from a Digital Console
The outputs from up to four Pro16 A-Net cards—Aviom's Y1 A-Net Card for Yamaha or a partner product—can be combined using the SB4 System Bridge and the special A-Net Bridge In on the D800 A-Net Distributor (note that the D400 and D400-Dante distributors do not offer this feature).
Switching to Dante
Switching to an audio system that uses a Dante-enabled console eliminates the need for an analog input module or digital console card when designing your personal mixing system. Simply connect the console and the Dante-enabled A-Net Distributor with a Cat-5 cable. Aviom makes two A-Net Distributors with Dante I/O.
Robust, Reliable Connectivity
The D400-Dante A-Net Distributor has the most straightforward user interlace; it allows up to 32 channels (at 44.1/48kHz) to be assigned directly from the Dante network to the Aviom personal mixing system.
The Most Powerful Dante Network
The D800-Dante A-Net Distributor allows up to 64 channels to be assigned directly from the Dante network to the Aviom personal mixing system. The D800-Dante also adds powerful features like Network Mix Back that allows up to eight A640 or A360 Personal Mixers to send their stereo mixes back to the D800-Dante where they can be connected to the inputs of up to eight wireless in-ear transmitters. These connections can be analog by using the AN-16/o v.4 Output Module, or directly patched via Dante back into the network without requiring additional hardware.
