Art Institute of Seattle Adds Pro16 Cue System

Aviom is getting high marks at The Art Institute of Seattle. Students and faculty members in the school's audio recording and production program have improved their monitoring and cue systems by adding Aviom's Pro16 Series™ monitor mixing system including the signature A-16II Personal Mixer to their equipment arsenal.

“As an educator I am interested in the idea of showing students alternate ways of doing things to better prepare them for the real world.”

Steven Barsotti
Academic Director of Audio Production

"As an educator I am interested in the idea of showing students alternate ways of doing things to better prepare them for the real world," says Academic Director of Audio Production at The Art Institute of Seattle, Steven Barsotti. "The Aviom Personal Mixing System is being utilized to educate our students while offering simplicity and flexibility without sacrificing quality."

Aviom's Pro16 System offers the most advanced solution available to provide each musician (or vocalist) total control over their individual monitor mixes, using Cat-5 cabling through Aviom's super-fast A-Net® for signal transport. Each performer has control over channel volume, grouping, pan, stereo spread and master volume while having the capability of creating a unique monitor mix that enables them to save and recall up to 16 custom mix snapshots as presets in each of their A-16II personal mixers. The stereo output from the Aviom system can be used effectively with headphones, in-ear monitors (IEMs) or to drive floor wedge, spot or studio monitors.

"The Aviom Personal Mixing System is a huge time saver in the student's workflow by taking the setup out of the student's to-do list and allowing the performer to implement his/her own changes without having to talk to the engineer," says Tom Pfaeffle, audio production instructor at The Art Institute of Seattle. "Aviom makes it easy. In the big picture, whether in a school or professional studio, it makes the session run 200% smoother because the variable is now put into the artist's hands and he/she can do what they need to do. Overall it helps our students save time and helps them to think about the task at hand as well as other aspects of the session without having to read the artist's mind."

Accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, The Art Institute of Seattle is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Art Institutes International, Inc. The Art Institute is providing students with a path to become a creative professional with programs in the field of audio production. An Associates of Applied Arts is available to students with state-of-the-art recording facilities.
